Shutdown
$ sqlplus '/ as sysdba'SQL> shutdown
Options:
shutdown - waits for sessions end
shutdown immediate - rollbacks and ends sessions (waits for rollback finish)
shutdown abort - kills everything - usually database has to perform some recovery on startup.
Startup
$ sqlplus '/ as sysdba'SQL> startup
